FICQ

FICQ is the umbrella body for all associations concerned with the Indian diaspora in Queensland. The establishment of the FICQ about 21 years ago signaled a way forward for a powerful and effective voice for all members of the Indian Diaspora in Queensland. FICQ currently consists of 33 Indian organisations and is growing steadily each year.

FICQ plays an important role to facilitate amongst the various Indian organisations to work together as one group on common issues for the benefit of all people of Indian origin in Queensland. Membership of the FICQ is open to all organisations and groups that identify with India origin. In order to seek membership of FICQA, groups and organisations need to be incorporated.

About Events & Festivals

Diwali

Diwali (Deepavali) is called the festival of lights celebrated all over India and most parts of the world, signifying the victory of good over evil as per Indian mythology. FICQ has been celebrating Diwali Festival in Brisbane since 2010, promoting harmony and multiculturalism. More than 15,000 people from Brisbane and other parts of Queensland attend the event annually, signifying the success and growing popularity of the festival.

India-Australia Day

It is a unique occasion that the national days of two countries India and Australia fall on the same day 26 January. FICQ takes immense pleasure to celebrate this important day. We notice growing Australia-India trade, tourism and with major contributions seen in the field of education and building cultural ties. This event will feature with speeches, great entertainment and delicious food.

Other Events where FICQ actively participates

Each year, FICQ engages with its member associations and other multicultural organisations in their events – such as, MDA's Luminous lantern parade held during June, Indian Independence Day celebration along with GOPIO Qld. The Commonwealth Games held at Gold Coast during April 2018.

FICQ is a not for profit organisation and relies heavily on the generous support of the sponsors to fund these events and festivals. Sponsors in-return get a wonderful opportunity to promote their brand awareness while supporting community events. Additionally, all sponsoring Companies and Businesses have access to the following opportunities as part of these events:
